Reflection of Annotated Bibliography

            I first went to my tutor in the PAL center to know that I was on the right path with this research paper. She gave me the okay and we went on working on the paper. We first needed to know which ones I was definitely going to use in the paper, and some that I could use in case if it was needed. After that we went on writing the citations first, since that needed more precise checking. We then proceeded to read the articles to understand what the authors were doing when writing them, and finished only one. The rest of the other articles were my work.

When creating the annotated bibliography, I began to realize how useful this is to understanding better the articles I am going to use for my research paper. It helped me to know which part to use, how to use them when citing them into the paper, and where to put them specifically. I gained the knowledge of these articles, and helped myself by writing these summaries to know that I am using real credible sources.

Journal Entry #6

                 The film Front of the Class demonstrated the lifestyle of a teacher who suffers from Tourette’s syndrome, which is viewed very strictly in America’s society and is very misunderstood, and through that viewpoint they argue that there is more to being a teacher than just school work. It talks about what an educator is, which is a teacher, but who mentors someone through emotional points. This can be seen when Brad helps a child who could not read well, giving his point of view on how reading is for himself, and teaching him through a bond they made. Teachers nowadays have been trying to do this as well, trying to find ways to help students who have different problems that most people have, and focusing to educate those students. This film brings a more brighter side to what teachers can do, and how they could affect the lives of students who go to school for education.          ...

Journal Entry #10

             When reading back Still Separate by Jonothan Kozol, I realized how much segregation still lives inside the United States. Although this is not something that has been never talked about, segregated schools have been known to be an ongoing situation that society has faced throughout many generations. I was mainly surprised with the schools that was mentioned that where in New York City, which is known to be very diverse. It mentioned the school Martin Luther King Jr. school downtown. Although this school is in a pretty safe area and has the name of the man who advocated for equality of races, many parents are still scared to have their kids sent into that school because of its demographic.             Personally, I saw this throughout my high school, being mostly filled with white students.
